TriMM 15 years

Our history

Training and multimedia
TriMM, Training and interactive MultiMedia, was established in 1993 by Willem Jaap Zwart. As a Ph D student, Willem Jaap saw the possibilities of interactive media for education. He decided to start for himself because his former employer, the University of Twente, could not consider demands from companies, institutions and schools about deploying computers.
The start of the company happened at the same time as the Internet was emerging. KPN and, a year later, Philips Semiconductors (now NXP) approached him for managing and extending a website and they became clients. Thus TriMM was one of the first Dutch companies that offered Internet applications commercially.

New step
The current management members, Kathy van Eijkelenburg and Marc Woesthuis, took TriMM over. Marc already worked at TriMM for eight years as a project manager (and in all sorts of other roles). Kathy and Willem Jaap knew each other from when they were students. She was looking for a new challenge after having had a number of executive positions at KPN.

And then:

  • As management we first focused on coming to know TriMM and our clients from the perspective of our new role. We also ensured that everything continued as it was.
  • After a year and a half we defined together with all TriMM employees the course we would follow in the future during the first strategy day.
  • Our accommodation on Oldenzaalsestraat 141-143 became too small in 2006 and we acquired the premises on Lasondersingel 145.
  • In 2007 we obtained an option on a plot in Roombeek and started the design of our new TriMM house.
  • In 2007 we were nominated as Best Employer of Twente and the Achterhoek.
